Why Choose Poznan?

Living and working as a teacher in the city where Poland was born means experiencing over a thousand years of history alongside the energy, culture, and lifestyle of a modern European city.

Poznań played a central role in the early formation of the Polish state, and that sense of history still runs through the city today.

But Poznań isn’t stuck in the past.

It’s a lively, confident city that feels young, creative, and easy to enjoy.

The Old Market Square is the heart of it all, lined with colorful buildings, busy terraces, and restaurants that stay lively well into the evening.

At noon each day, crowds gather to watch the city’s famous mechanical goats appear on the town hall clock, a strange little tradition that only adds to the city’s character.

Poznań is also a major student city, which gives it a social and energetic atmosphere throughout the year. With universities across the city, there’s always something happening.

And when you want a change of pace, lakes, parks, and riverside paths are never far away.

Location and Climate

Poznań sits in western Poland, giving it a great location for exploring both the country itself and the rest of Europe.

Germany is just across the border, and cities like Berlin are easily reachable by train, making international trips surprisingly simple. It’s a great base if you enjoy traveling and want to see more of Europe while living abroad.

Within Poland, the rail network is fast and reliable, with regular trains connecting Poznań to cities such as Warsaw, Wrocław, and Gdańsk.

But staying in Poznań, the city experiences four distinct seasons, each bringing a slightly different atmosphere.

Summers are warm and lively, with outdoor cafes, festivals, and long evenings in the parks.

Autumn brings cooler weather and colorful trees across the city’s many green spaces.

Winters can be cold, sometimes with snow, giving the historic streets a classic European feel.

Then spring arrives with milder temperatures and the city gradually coming back to life outdoors again.

School Life

One of the interesting things about teaching in Poznań is the variety.

Rather than working in just one type of classroom, teachers often work with a mix of different schools and age groups.

On some days you might be teaching energetic kindergarten students, while on others you could be working with primary school classes, teenagers, or even adults studying business English. It keeps the job varied and means no two weeks feel exactly the same.

Although there is variety, you’re not constantly starting from scratch.

Teachers usually work with regular groups of students, so over time you build a rhythm and get to know your classes. This makes lessons more enjoyable as students become familiar with your teaching style and you can see their progress week by week.

Classes tend to be lively and interactive, with plenty of opportunities to use games, conversation activities, and creative exercises to keep students engaged. Teachers are encouraged to bring their own ideas into the classroom and create lessons that feel dynamic and enjoyable.

Overall, teaching in Poznań offers a balance of structure and variety, keeping work interesting while you to build meaningful connections.
