Why a TEFL in Costa Rica?
If you’re going to do a TEFL course, you might as well do it somewhere unforgettable. Costa Rica offers the kind of setting that turns a month of training into a genuine life experience. Picture lush landscapes, warm weather, and a sense of community from day one.
This is an in-person, intensive TEFL course, designed for people who want more than a quick online certificate. The training is detailed, challenging, and hands-on, giving you a real boost in classroom confidence and practical teaching skills.
One of the main highlights is the group experience. You’ll train alongside other aspiring teachers from around the world, learning, practising, and exploring beautiful Costa Rica together.
Alongside your TEFL training, you’ll also take Spanish lessons, allowing you to develop another valuable skill at the same time. It’s a great way to immerse yourself more deeply in the local culture and make the most of being there.
It’s important to note that this is not an Impact Teaching–run program. Our role is purely as a referral partner. We introduce suitable candidates to the course provider, who runs the training and manages the program itself.
If you’re looking for a serious TEFL qualification wrapped up in an incredible month abroad, that will unlock teaching abroad anywhere, Costa Rica is hard to beat.
Requirements
This TEFL program is best suited to people who are serious about learning to teach, open to new experiences, and ready to commit to an intensive, in-person course.
You must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English, with a good standard of spoken and written communication. No previous teaching experience is required, but you should be motivated, organised, and prepared to take the training seriously. This is a detailed and demanding program, not a tick-box qualification.
As the course is delivered fully in person, you’ll need to be available for the full duration of the program and comfortable learning in a group environment. You should also be open to participating actively, whether that’s lesson planning, teaching practice, or group discussions.
A positive attitude and willingness to step outside your comfort zone go a long way. You’ll be living and training in Costa Rica for a month, so flexibility, curiosity, and a sense of adventure are important.
This program is ideal for those who want real TEFL skills, a strong foundation for future teaching, and an unforgettable experience abroad all at the same time.

Fees Charged by Our Partner
This TEFL program involves a significant fee, which is set and charged by the course provider, not by Impact Teaching. Please read this section carefully before applying.
The total cost of the program is $1,785 USD (approximately £1,340). This covers the in-person TEFL training, course materials, and the full program experience in Costa Rica.
As part of our referral partnership, applicants who apply through Impact Teaching receive a discount of $100 USD (or £75) off the listed price. Details on how to apply this discount will be provided once you’re referred to the provider.
Impact Teaching does not charge any additional fees for this opportunity. Our role is limited to introducing suitable candidates to the program, and all payments are made directly to the course provider.
If this fee is not realistic for you, this program is unlikely to be a good fit. We want all applicants to be fully aware of the costs upfront before taking the next step.

How to Apply

From there, the provider will guide you through the next steps, including confirming your place on the course, sharing start dates and logistics, and explaining how to apply your Impact Teaching referral discount. All payments, course details, and support are handled directly by the provider.
To get started, email your CV to info@impact-teaching.com with the subject line “TEFL in Costa Rica”. We’ll reply with the next steps and let you know if the program is a good match for you.
This route is best suited to candidates who are comfortable with the program fee and are looking for an immersive, in-person TEFL experience rather than an online qualification. If you have any questions, we’d be very happy to answer them here.
